We had the chance to see a bit of Harare the last two days, enjoyed several performances at HIFA, listened to a panel discussion looking at the current developments in curating contemporary African art and finally met the people from the Book Cafe.
Furthermore we keep collecting more stories about resilience. Resilient methods and necessities in urban environments naturally differ from those in rural ones. Resilience was also a theme at the discussion about arts and cultural practices in Africa, “we are used to making things out of nothing.” (Quote Doreen Sibanda, Executive director of the National Gallery Zimbabwe)
We are looking forward to integrate these currently recorded stories into the second version of the radio set, which will be touring Austria beginning in July. It almost feels like we have too much, but that cannot be a bad thing.
A few more days to go. A few more days to inhale Zimbabwean stories. A few more days to enjoy these wonderful people defined, perhaps, by time and humour.
